Studio of Edward Burtynsky International Shipping Policies

The Studio of Edward Burtynsky is pleased to offer shipping within Canada and to select international destinations. Each order is carefully prepared and packaged according to the size, medium, framing, and destination of the work.

Shipping availability, timing, carrier, and cost vary by destination and by the nature of the artwork. Certain works—including framed prints and works shipped in custom wooden crates—may require specialized handling, freight arrangements, or additional processing time.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

International orders are shipped from Canada. The purchaser is responsible for ensuring that the ordered work may be lawfully imported into the destination country and for complying with all applicable customs, import, and local requirements.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing by our Studio, all international shipments are sent on a basis that excludes destination-country import charges from the purchase price and shipping fee.

The purchaser is responsible for all charges assessed in connection with importation, including:

• Customs duties

• Tariffs or surtaxes

• Sales, use, value-added, goods-and-services, or other taxes

• Brokerage, customs-clearance, storage, inspection, and administrative fees

• Any other charges imposed by customs authorities, government agencies, carriers, or customs brokers

These charges are determined by the destination country and may be assessed on the artwork, frame, crate, packing materials, shipping costs, insurance, or shipment as a whole. Edward Burtynsky Studio does not control these charges and cannot estimate, waive, prepay, reimburse, or accept responsibility for them.

UNITED STATES ORDERS

Orders delivered to the United States are imports from Canada. U.S. purchasers should be aware that U.S. customs duties, tariffs, and related import charges may apply in addition to the purchase price and shipping fee.

Current Canada–United States trade measures may result in significant additional tariffs on certain Canadian-origin goods, including certain categories of art and related materials. Whether a particular shipment is subject to a duty, tariff, exemption, or other charge depends on customs classification, country of origin, the contents and value of the shipment, and the determination made by U.S. Customs and Border Protection or another relevant authority at the time of importation.

A framed photographic print shipped in a wooden crate may be assessed according to one or more customs classifications. The treatment of the photographic work, frame, crate, and other shipment components may differ. Our Studio cannot guarantee a particular customs classification, tariff treatment, exemption, clearance outcome, or final landed cost.

U.S. customers are encouraged to consult a qualified U.S. customs broker, trade adviser, or U.S. Customs and Border Protection before placing an order if they require guidance on anticipated import costs. Recent U.S. measures have imposed additional tariffs on specified Canadian goods, with reports indicating that certain categories of Canadian-origin art may be affected; the applicable result remains shipment- and classification-specific.

IMPORTER RESPONSIBILITY

By placing an international order, the purchaser acknowledges and agrees that they are responsible for all applicable import charges and customs requirements associated with their shipment.

Where required, the purchaser may be asked to provide information, documentation, tax identification, or authorization necessary for customs clearance. Delays resulting from customs processing, incomplete information, unpaid charges, or destination-country restrictions are outside The Studio of Edward Burtynsky’s control.

The purchaser should not refuse delivery solely because duties, tariffs, taxes, brokerage, or other import charges are payable. If an order is refused, returned, abandoned, held, or cannot be delivered because import charges are unpaid or customs requirements have not been met, the purchaser remains responsible for any costs incurred in connection with the shipment, including return freight, storage, brokerage, customs charges, insurance, handling, and restocking costs. Where a refund is available, these amounts may be deducted from the refund to the extent permitted by applicable law.

SHIPPING TIMES AND CHANGES

Any delivery estimate is an estimate only and is not guaranteed. Shipping and delivery may be affected by production schedules, framing, crating, carrier capacity, customs clearance, inspections, weather, labour disruptions, public-health measures, or other circumstances outside our Studio’s reasonable control.

Shipping destinations, shipping methods, rates, processing times, and these Shipping Policies may be changed, suspended, or updated at any time without prior notice. This is particularly important in relation to international trade, customs requirements, duties, tariffs, and Canada–United States trade measures, which may change quickly and may affect the cost, timing, availability, or treatment of shipments.

The version of these Shipping Policies in effect on the date an order is placed will apply to that order, except where a change in law, customs requirement, carrier condition, governmental measure, or other circumstance outside our control requires a different approach.
