Borusan Contemporary
Istanbul, Türkiye
Canadian artist Edward Burtynsky, whose career spans more than four decades, reflects on civilization’s growth and the profound ways humans have altered, reshaped, and at times scarred the natural world on an astonishing scale.
Highlighting a series of prominent projects, the exhibition opens with Burtynsky’s most recent series commissioned by the Borusan Contemporary Art Collection, which explores erosion across various regions of Türkiye. Presented under the theme of Erosion, this section features numerous never-before-seen photographs. Spanning all floors of the Haunted Mansion (Perili Köşk in Turkish), the exhibition is organized around distinct themes on each level: Water and Salt, African Stuides, Nature, Quarries, Mines, and Oil. With each theme offering a unique perspective, the exhibition presents a compelling visual narrative of the current state of our planet.
