The 54 countries that make up the African continent span a broad spectrum of governments and economies and are physically divided down the middle by the Sahara desert. This new series of photographs by Edward Burtynsky focuses on the sub-Saharan area and reflects his experience in Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Senegal, South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Madagascar and Tanzania.

Within the framework of the celebration of PHotoESPAÑA, Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky will share his reflections on the image.

In this edition of PHotoEspaña, the African Studies series is also presented, in which Burtynsky focuses on the landscapes of Sub-Saharan Africa with an exhibition at CentroCentro Cibeles; a project that has taken him to Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, Senegal, South Africa, Botswana, Madagascar and Tanzania.

The photographer will be accompanied by Marta García Haro , an expert in culture and sustainability.
